wear

A new category of posts for the blog, because I genuinely enjoy wearing things that look good, that don’t cost an absurd amount.

In this day and age (or rather, being around this age of early 20s) we’ve got more reasons to dress nicely such as 21st birthdays, dinner parties, weddings, engagements, dates, concerts, musicals… And the onus is on us to dress ourselves. And I shouldn’t forget the fact that we’re close to working age, and whether the setting is in healthcare (which I’ll be focussed on) or any other job, chances are we’ll have to dress appropriately and professionally.

A lot of the posts will be centred around ASOS.com the online store (which is coming to Australia), because of their reasonable prices and free shipping. A word of warning though, be very sure of your sizing when you order, because it’s a hassle to do returns. And ASOS is great for covering staples such as shirts and pants, because the ASOS brand, while not a famous one, actually produces excellent quality clothing with stylish tailoring (skinnier cuts I suppose) at a price range that does worry local retailers. Pants for $40 and shirts for $30 makes dressing nicely a lot more affordable, when compared with your local MYER or David Jones, where pants and shirts all sit near the $100 mark. And that isn’t mentioning our polo-playing, reptilian or European friends.

basics: jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

If we are to put our trust in GOD, then we put our trust in His promises. God has a plan for our lives, and holding on to this simple truth is something we need so much. Plans to give us hope, and a future – two things that I personally struggle with a lot.

It’s easy to lose hope when you’re let down by the people you trust, the circumstances you face, and discouraged by your limited perspective. But GOD is who He is, the creator of the universe and the one who knows our plans. To hope is to believe for a favourable outcome in the face of adverse circumstances, and a knowledge of GOD’s plans can give us hope.

A future, is something that is tied in with the idea of hope. When you lose hope, it’s very easy to lose sight of the future, and what good may come. Knowing that your life has meaning in the context of GOD’s plan gives us a glimpse of our future. And for me right now, that future involves restoring vision both physically and emotionally.
