Now, I don’t know if this really counts, but I’m currently doing a hospital placement right next to the school where one of my best teachers from High School was reported to work…
So I stopped by after clinic and went to the Admin asking if I could make an appointment to see her and just say thanks for pushing. Turns out she transferred to another school at the beginning of the year, so I’m six months too late. But the lady at Admin said she would send her an email and let her know that I dropped by to say thanks.
“Thanks! From Peter, <High School> Class of 2005 (Now studying Medicine)”

The background to this is that in my final year of high school, I had a reputation for inconsistency. During an audit of our classes, my assessments were submitted with grades of: 90%, 86%, 60%, 80% and so on, representing my dip in study having become overconfident with my high scores.
She pulled me aside after class one day and told me that I really needed to apply myself, because it was clear that I had the potential to do well, but was just too lazy.
Fast forward seven years, and I’ve finally learnt a little bit more about applying myself and striving for excellence.
And I guess I just wanted her to know that she got through to me, somewhere down the line.

I’m going to count this as completed, but I may update it if the occasion arises.
