impact

There’s a difficult line to walk in life, between being approachable, and being invested.

I’m not sure of how to put this, but you can have a great impact in peoples lives when you spend more time with them, almost in the capacity of “mentoring”. It means you build a better relationship, and can see things through, and be there when the going gets tough.

But there’s also value in being approachable to anyone and everyone, in a way that allows you to at least brighten or ease their lives in your daily interactions.

I think the problem comes when people expect a mentoring relationship, when you can only really offer a momentary gee up. Or what I mean is, you can’t be best friends with everybody – but how do you still keep from being reserved and unapproachable?

Do we spread ourselves out too thin?
