this is my Son

Matthew 3:17
New International Version (NIV)
17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Identity precedes activity.

God said that He was pleased with Jesus well before He actually performed any public miracles or began his ministry.

God speaks not to how we act, but to who we are.
