Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint;
but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.
Another translation puts it as “where there is no vision”. And I think this could be expanded on a lot more, in a well-written post. But I don’t have it in me right now.
In brief, when I don’t see the vision behind the things that I am doing, then it is so easy to get caught up in the doing, and to compromise values and beliefs for the sake of doing, rather than the overall vision.
